Our History
In 1974, the Center for Creative Justice was
created when
concerned citizens recognized the need for community involvement in the
justice system. Embracing the principles of Restorative Justice,
probation supervisory
services provided by professional staff and trained community
volunteers were initiated to meet that need.
In 1980, CCJ developed a mediation service
program to resolve interpersonal, neighborhood, family, and workplace
disputes. It also
began providing victim/offender conferencing. CCJ's broad experience in
conflict
resolution through its mediation and probation services encouraged the
development of educational, problem-solving/peace-keeping workshops and
seminars
for the home, school, community, and workplace.
