Doug Jones - Probation Supervisor
Doug Jones has been a Probation Officer for the Center for Creative Justice since May of 2008. The third of four sons, Doug was born and raised in Slater, Iowa and so has well established roots in our community. He graduated from the Ballard Community Schools and went to UNI, where he obtained a degree in Elementary Education, and met his wife Sue. They taught for a year in a small school district in Wisconsin, and then returned to the Ames area so that Sue might earn a second teaching degree at ISU, and Doug began a 25-year career at the Gilbert Community Schools. He served as a fifth-grade teacher for 15 years and the rest as their elementary counselor. A quick seven years with the Pella Corp in Story City followed, which by most reports, had little to do with the closing of that facility. As a probation supervisor, Doug is back in the helping field, the work he calls home. Doug and Sue are parents to a son who currently works in city administration in the Denver area, and a daughter, working on a degree in design at ISU. Hobbies include motorcycles and woodworking. Life is good.
